Supervisor Meegan called the work session to order at 3:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Supervisor Meegan read the Fire Prevention Code instructing the public where to exit in case of a fire or an emergency.

 

TOWN ENGINEER STEVEN TANNER

  • Sewer testing along Main Street and Seneca Street is currently half done; Engineering will present to the Town Board upon completion for possible sewer lining approval
  • Community Center & Library is progressing toward shell completion by June 26th; a construction meeting with contractors to finalize the construction schedule will be held on Wednesday

 

SENIOR CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER JOHN GULLO

  • Last version of the community brochure for design standards is ready for print; Mr. Gullo questioned if there are any concerns from the Town Board; Councilman Hanley questioned if the names were removed from the buildings on the brochure as requested and Mr. Gullo stated they have been removed

 

TOWN CLERK JACQUELINE FELSER

  • Computer upgrades for the office are needed due to some computers still using Windows XP which is no longer supported

 

SENIOR RECREATION THERAPIST OF SENIOR SERVICES MARY JOSEFIAK

  • Two van drivers resigned and two new hires are on the agenda for appointment
  • Wi-Fi situation at senior center - IEvolve proposed a solution with a cost of $447
  • Burchfield Center and the West Seneca Arts Society just finished their show; Burchfield Center is sponsoring a poster contest with the town high schools
  • Mother’s Day lunch will be held Wednesday and will include various events
  • Thank you to Highway Supt. Matthew English for repairs made to the parking lot

 

RECREATION SUPERVISOR LAUREN MASSET

  • Last session of open interviews for summer 2017 positions will be held next Monday, May 15th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Mill Road office; open interview times and job postings can be found on the open job tab, community calendar, Recreation tab located on the town’s website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter
  • Applications are still being accepted to fill volunteer positions on the West Seneca Youth Board; applications may be submitted to the Recreation Office
  • Summer program registration is currently taking place
  • Adult softball captains will meet this Wednesday evening; visit the town website for more information
  • Recreation flyers are located on the back podium
  • Summer Day Camp registration is taking place with limited availability

 

HIGHWAY SUP’T. MATTHEW ENGLISH

  • Milling and paving on Woodcrest Drive began today
  • Metz House has been refurbished and the downstairs is ready for meetings; one key will be distributed to each of the organizations using it

 

COUNCILMAN HANLEY

  • Community meeting was held at the senior center to discuss the Oakgrove project
  • The NYSDOT submitted a proposal to restripe Potter Road between Tudor Blvd. and Slade Avenue to change and calm the traffic pattern
  • An agreement has been reached for electricity and natural gas providers – Direct Energy to remain as electric provider; savings of $17,300 per year which is  savings of $51,900 for three years;  the natural gas low bidder was National Fuel Resources with an annual savings of $14,000 per year and $42,000 for three years

 

SUPERVISOR MEEGAN

  • Farmer’s Market  - Emily Melski reported that vendors have been secured; Lions Concert series begins June 15th at 7:00 PM; community organizations are welcome on a first come basis to hold a free stand at the Farmer’s Market to share their organization with the public

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion by Supervisor Meegan, seconded by Councilman Hanley, to recess to executive session at 3:25 P.M. to discuss labor contract issues and a litigation matter.

 

Ayes: All                                    Noes: None                               Motion Carried

 

The board members returned from executive session at 5:00 P.M. and the work session concluded.
