West Seneca Town Board Appoints Brian Cosgrove as Chief of Police

West Seneca, NY – The Town of West Seneca is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Cosgrove as the new Chief of Police, effective July 27, 2024. The decision, made by the Town Board, comes following the retirement of Ed Baker after a long and distinguished career in law enforcement.

Brian Cosgrove brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role as Chief of Police. Having served as a Captain of Patrol since 2020, and previously as a Police Lieutenant for 7 years, Brian has been a valuable member of the West Seneca Police Department since 2001 and the Town of West Seneca since 1997.

Throughout his career, Brian has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the community. He currently serves as the Unit Commander of the West Seneca Police Department Honor Guard and has played a crucial role as a Crisis Negotiator. Brian's commitment to serving the community extends beyond his duties in law enforcement, having also served as a West Seneca Central School District DARE officer and a Field Training Officer.

Brian Cosgrove's passion for professional development is evident through his participation in various training programs, including the prestigious FBI Law Enforcement Executive Training seminar in 2021. His commitment to excellence and continuous improvement makes him a natural fit for the role of Chief of Police.

Supervisor Gary Dickson indicated, "The Town of West Seneca is confident that under Chief Cosgrove's leadership, the West Seneca Police Department will continue to uphold its commitment to protecting and serving the community with integrity and professionalism."  Councilmember Robert Breidenstein, Liaison with the Police Department added, "Brian's commitment to public safety, the community and his fellow officers was evident during the interview process."
