| Description: | Fast driving Frank Wagner (holding flag) took the 50 lap championship feature event at the West Seneca Speedway on a Sunday afternoon in October 1950. Presenting the winning trophy to Frank is Melvin Gangloff. Long time West seneca resident, Earle Heusinger acted at assistant starter, worked security, and the refreshment stand with family members. The Speedway was located on Seneca Creek Road and drew crowds of stock car enthusiasts in the early 1950's. The quarter mile track, carved from a farm, wasn't NASCAR sanctioned but it did have an ambulance, owned by an undertaker who brought it to the track each week. Spectators where covered with dust as cars rumbled into the turns, bouncing off fences and each other. |
