    2.   Town Engineer re Bid date for 2002 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project

Motion by Councilman Osmanski, seconded by Supervisor Clark, to set a bid date of July 8, 2002 at 10 A.M. for receipt of bids on the 2002 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project, Job No. S-0201, noting that the project includes lining of sanitary sewers, grouting house laterals and sealing manholes in various areas of town to minimize infiltration and surcharging in the sanitary sewer system.

On the question, Councilman Wroblewski asked Principal Engineer Assistant Gary Bommer for a brief synopsis of how this project worked and how it benefited the town.

Mr. Bommer responded that slip lining the sewers was done with a very thin pvc pipe that was expanded using hot water to make it conform to the shape of the original pipe. This reduced the size of the pipe by about -inch, but increased the flow considerably. Five to ten feet of each sanitary sewer lateral was also lined to seal them along with the manholes. Mr. Bommer commented that this procedure had cut the infiltration down dramatically.

He also did not believe the low price of the equipment warranted a rebid.
